All pets welcome at Blessing of Animals

IN celebration of World Animal Day, a special ‘Blessing of the Animals’ will be held on Saturday (October 7) at Reverend Bill Crews’ Ashfield Uniting Church.

As well as cats, dogs, rabbits, birds, fish and guinea pigs being blessed at the last event a few years ago, there were also horses, reptiles and a pig even a llama.
“You can even bring your elephant along,” Bill said with a laugh.
Event organiser Camilla Tulley said they were hoping to have a wide variety of animals and their owners attend.
“We will have plastic down in the church and Rev Bill will bless each animal after the service,” she said.
“There will also be a photo booth where owners can capture a lasting memory, plenty of water for the animals and refreshments in the community hall after the proceedings.”
Residents are being asked to arrive from 1.45pm with their pets or human loved ones, with the service to begin at 2pm.
“For your pet’s safety and yours, please ensure they are either on a leash or in a carrier,” Camilla said.
Limited street parking but plenty in the Ashfield Mall carpark.
