All abilities are invited to enjoy Festival of Feet

HE has a developmental delay, a sensory processing disorder and is usually wheelchair bound but that doesn’t stop Matt from enjoying the benefits of the Western Districts Joggers and Harriers at Lake Gillawarna.

Looking forward to taking part in this year’s Festival of the Feet on Father’s Day, September 4, Matt says going to the Mirambeena Regional Park in Georges Hall, helps to calm him down as he loves to look at nature.
“My Mum Grace is an avid runner at Western Districts Joggers and Harriers,” he said.
“She sometimes takes me to the club to enjoy the wonderful scenery and nature. I really enjoy being pushed by my Dad in the wheelchair while my mum and my brother run; it feels like I am running with them.
“I love the sensation of fresh air on my face and the wind blowing through my hair. It is the greatest feeling.”
Westies Joggers welcomes runners and walkers of all abilities.
“I know the reason my mum runs at the club every week is because Westies Joggers offers the support we need to improve our health and wellbeing through running or walking,” Matt said.
“Through active participation at the club, me and my family acquire vital fitness and social skills and become empowered to act as agents of change towards a healthier lifestyle.
“I am looking forward to the Festival of the Feet and will be cruising the tracks next to Lake Gillawarna in my trusty wheelchair. I hope you can join us.”
