After winning place to study musical theatre at famed US college
The talented singer, actor and dancer left Australia in 2011 to pursue a career in Musical Theatre in America, beginning his studies at the Berklee College of Music where he obtained his Bachelor of Music.
After finishing at Berklee, Shannon pursued a Master’s in Fine Arts at Berklee’s sister school: The Boston Conservatory.
“You, Me, I, We” is part of the National Asian Artists Project featuring four musicals written by up and coming Asian-American writers.
Shannon is thrilled to be making his New York debut in a project that celebrates his heritage.
“As the fight for diversity in the entertainment industry grows, I am elated to be chosen for this project,” he said.
“The story is an exploration of the crazy and chaotic way our minds work – the voices that direct our everyday actions, the ones that knock us down with harsh thoughts and lift us back up.”
Shannon says that although thrilled with the way his career is going, he misses Sydney weather and his family.
“It’s just so much less gloomy in Sydney,” he said. “I do plan on returning but for now, NYC is where my contacts are so it’s easier to stay here. However, for the right role, I will definitely come back.”
