“Humphrey will really make this a barefoot bowls day to remember,” Foundation director, Mrs Kerry Fozzard, said.
“Humphrey has been a star to hundreds of thousands of children since he made his TV debut way back in 1965.
“Humphrey is itching to play bowls with the kids and adults alike, so roll up, folks.”
Bowl Barefeet for Child Protection Week is a great day out for families, with something for everyone. As well as enjoying the fun of lawn bowls, there is a BBQ lunch, games, raffles, a chocolate wheel and a jumping castle.
Entry this year is by a gold coin donation and includes bowls equipment and sausage sizzle. Children 10 and under are free.
Official statistics show that every year in Australia there are more than 390,000 reported incidents of child abuse. There is one substantiated case of child abuse every 10 minutes – and the rate is still climbing. Even worse, experts in the field believe the number of unreported cases is even higher.

A barefeet bowls day to remember
SHOOLS and kids are again the focus of Bowl Barefeet for Child Protection Week, the Child Protection Foundation’s big annual fundraiser at Padstow Bowling & Recreational Club on Sunday, September 15, from 10.30am. All money raised from the gala family fundraiser – now in its 11th year – goes toward supporting the Child Protection Foundation in its ongoing work to educate the community and prevent child abuse. The most famous children’s character in the history of Australian television will be the special guest at this year’s event: the legendary Humphrey B. Bear.
