Culminating in the grand final at Horlyck Reserve in South Granville in which St George Nepalese Club won the trophy and cash, NAWS President Chiranjibi Tiwari said the tournament was a huge success, attracting teams from around NSW.
He said his group had been hosting get-togethers, sports activities and special programs for the Nepalese community since 1999.
“We have been organising Dashain festivals, cultural and musical programs and sports activities every year and started the NAWS Football Cup in 2021,” he said.
“NAWS has many long-term goals and visions to continue to work to promote close cooperation among Nepalese and to extend our helping hands to reach those in need.”
Honorary Consulate for the Embassy of Nepal, Sanjiv Sharma, who was a tournament guest, said the NAWS Football Cup was an opportunity to connect Nepalese society and improve discipline.
“If the new generation of Nepalese in Australia can be connected with the country through sports, it will foster a great sense of well-being and community,” he said.
