The Canterbury Bankstown District Junior Rugby League (CBDJRL) registration grant seeks to help reduce overhead costs for families and encourage thousands of children – aged from Under 5s to Under 13s – to participate in rugby league from an early age in the local area.
Sankari says that thanks to the grant, there are already nearly 30 young players registered to play in the upcoming season which starts in April but training gets underway on February 6 at Peter Hislop Park in Auburn, so you need to get in now.
The 2022 Club of the Year, Berala Bears had plenty to celebrate last season with the minor premiers Under 9s team, along with the Under 11s winning their premierships, and the Under 12s being runners up.
“We hope to maintain our winning style but of course, it’s not all about winning,” Sankari said.
“Rugby league is just so ideal for kids, it gets them superfit, strong mentally and they can make friends for life.
“It also gets them off the couch and off their tablets, something most parents would be very happy about.”
