Idol favourite’s song to ‘uplift’ for Australia Day

Cumberland’s Australia Day celebration will be held at Holroyd Gardens in Merrylands on Friday, January 26, 6-9pm, and will feature lots of family entertainment and activities including roving entertainers, Bluey and Bingo Zone, plenty of food and refreshments and fireworks.
Singing since the age of three, Tarisai moved from Zimbabwe to Sydney as a teenager determined to perfect her skills and completed a degree in musical theatre and psychology.
She became a household name, making the top five of Australian Idol in 2007 and released single ‘Head Over Heels’ as well as an album ‘Redemption’ in 2017.
She was cast in Walt Disney’s The Lion King, toured in the musical Madiba, wrote and performed her own drama Out of Africa and recently completed a tour of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory in the role of Violet Beauregarde.
In between touring to a range of countries this year for solo performances and at festivals, including the United Kingdom, Switzerland, France, India and Samoa, Tarisai has been establishing her business as an NDIS provider, with staff filling in for her when she is away.
It’s a role that she loves almost as much as writing and performing music.
“I offer music therapy, counselling services and support coordination to clients,” she said.
“I’ve met a lot of people struggling in life and so my latest single is for them; I want to uplift them and to assure everyone there is always light at the end of the tunnel and it’s never too late to ask for emotional support from family, friends and professionals.
“As long as you are still breathing, seek help and things will turn around for you.”
