Now the Team Manager and an All Age Womens player, Eda says it’s an exciting time for a female to be playing soccer with the countdown on for the FIFA Women’s World Cup which kicks off in July and will this year be hosted in Australia.
“It’s definitely an exciting time and just as we set aside time to get together to watch all the international soccer matches, we will be making plans to see the professional women live when the Cup games get underway in a couple of months,” she said.
Never remembering a season before where so many girls and women are reaching out to play, Eda says the Matildas are an inspiration to all.
“It’s not too late to register to play for the season and you don’t need any experience,” she said.
“I always say to new players, so long as you’ve got the will, there’ll be a way and all the new players coming through are showing that.”
Eda says that once you get the basics right and playing with the right team and the right club, everything falls into place.
“Auburn FC is multicultural and we have strong team bonds,” she said.
“There’s nothing better than soccer for your physical fitness and mental health and after the restraints of Covid, it’s amazing how many players are keen to play and even train twice a week.”

‘No club better than one here’
SHE was only visiting friends who played for Auburn FC about seven years ago but the fun, friendly vibe of the club really appealed to Eda Alca and she decided to register to play herself – and has never left.
