Police, who were investigating a fraud incident from last October where a woman reported her life savings was allegedly stolen via an online scam, raided a home on Woodville Road, Villawood, last Thursday, and seized phones, laptops, and a luxury vehicle.
Two 22-year-old men were arrested at the home, with one charged with deal with property proceeds of crime greater than $100,000, knowingly/recklessly direct criminal group assist crime, and deal with property proceeds of crime less than $100,000, while the other was charged with deal with property proceeds of crime los than $100,000.
Police are urging the community to remain vigilant to protect themselves from scammers who make unsolicited calls and pose as computer service technicians.
Genuine inquiries will never ask for your passwords or credentials, nor will a genuine caller ask for access to your computer over the internet.
