Carer charged over fraud

A MAN has been charged after he allegedly stole a credit card from a 73-year-old man, who he had cared for at an aged care facility in Brighton-Le-Sands, and used it to pay for food, clothing, cigarettes, streaming services and public transport.

In January 2023, Campsie Police began an investigation after the relatives of the 73-year-old, who passed away in August 2022, reported his debit card had allegedly been stolen and used fraudulently.
The 28-year-old was arrested at a home in Punchbowl yesterday (Wednesday, March 29) and charged with larceny and dishonestly obtain financial advantage by deception.
Investigations are continuing.
