The tournament brought together people from various ethnicities, including Haryanvis, Gujratis, Mumbaites, Hyderabadis, Chennaites, Nepalis, Pakistanis, Sri Lankans, Bangladeshis, Afghans and Caucasian Australians.
Cheetah’s XI took on Bluesky Riders in the final, with the Cheetahs winning and Asad Warraich emerging as the best player of the tournament.
An initiative of the CEO of Bluesky Immigration & Student Consultancy Services, Shayaz Khan, and his organising team, the Cricket Cup is not just a tournament, but a celebration of Australia’s diversity and would not have been possible without the support of the sponsors and individual contributors, especially Naveed Mohammed, Mudabbir Hussain, Khabeer Khateeb and volunteers.
“The outstanding performance of the players, along with the hard work, dedication and sportsmanship they exhibited, truly made the event a grand success,” Mr Khan said.
Bluesky Cricket Cup celebrating diversity
A SHINING example of how sports can unite people from different backgrounds, the Bluesky Cricket Cup 2023 was held earlier this month just ahead of Harmony Week.
