Cash help for less drain pain

GUILDFORD West Sportsground will receive $100,000 towards drainage upgrade works.

The ground is used by several sport clubs and is home to the Holroyd Rangers Soccer Club, whose president Danny Rizk welcomed the funding, and said despite years of part-seasons due to Covid and bad weather, the club had continued to grow and “interest in soccer keeps going up and up”.
State MP for Granville Julia Finn (pictured with club members) said the work would make a real difference to the sportsground and easier for people – young and old – to stay active.
“2022 was a very wet year and many local sports facilities were closed due to the severe weather. Here at Guildford West the fields were closed for days after heavy rain because of problems with drainage,” she said.
Football NSW found that 38 per cent of grounds had drainage issues.
