When things don’t work out perfectly, it’s often our default to put ourselves down, even when obstacles and failures are very normal but an upcoming workshop at the Granville Centre, ‘My Story, My New Life’, is an opportunity for women to take stock and improve their life.
Presented by House to Grow charity and run by an experienced storyteller, Yasmin Noone, this workshop will create a safe, non-judgemental space for women to come together to meditate, set affirmations, write and heal.
Yasmin says the most powerful story in your life is one that you tell yourself everyday.
“Self-talk and underlying beliefs about what you perceive to be your failures, successes, hurts, traumas, weaknesses and strengths can all be reshaped by re-writing your perspective,” she said.
“By changing your narrative, you can change your life story, heal, relieve anxiety and realise self-love.”
The workshop will be conducted as a women’s circle – a format that’s been used for ceremonial healings by many cultures for centuries.
“The circle will open with a grounding meditation to help participants switch off and centre,” Yasmin said.
“We’ll then progress to a self-reflective writing exercise; we will make positive affirmations, as each individual re-writes their personal story with a new angle that focuses on self-kindness.”
Unlock your power within and book for the free ‘My Story, My New Life’ workshop on Thursday, May 4, 6-8pm, at eventbrite.com.au.
