Cameron Ciraldo’s side appeared set to cruise to victory with a 20-point lead after 66 minutes before Tigers ran in three tries in four minutes to set up a thrilling finale.
With Matt Burton laying the platform, Paul Alamoti and Josh Addo-Carr producing the magic, the Bulldogs were lucky with their early tries from a lethal left edge.
They opened their account in the fourth minute when forward Viliame Kikau offloaded to put Hayze Perham through.
Nine minutes later they were in again when 19-year-old Alamoti found Addo-Carr who scored.
Tigers went in and reduced the deficit to 12-6, before the Bulldogs extended their lead in the second half.
While the visitors threw everything at the Bulldogs, the home side hung on to bring the Belmore faithful to their feet at full time.
Ciraldo said there were still a lot of things they needed to fix.
“I think we played really well for the first 60 minutes but in the last 15 minutes, lost our way a bit,” he said.
“We’re still a new team and we’re learning but we’re actually getting better each week.”
The Bulldogs will tackle the Warriors on Sunday from 2pm at Mt Smart Stadium.
