Footy Club raises nearly $70,000 for quake relief

A DAY of family fun in the sun at Webbs Avenue playing fields earlier this month, has seen Auburn Football Club raise $68,638 to go to earthquake disaster relief efforts in Turkiye and Syria.

Auburn FC President Vahit Orker said that with over half of the players grieving for lost or still missing family members, it was the least the club could do.
“There are thousands and thousands of people who have been displaced and others who have lost loved ones and all of their worldly possessions,” he said.
The special tournament day offered a great selection of food and drinks, a jumping castle, face painting, a martial arts show and raffles as well as plenty of other fun and footy games to cheer on.
“We would like to thank all those that came to donate and offer their support, including committee members, volunteers, Western Wanderers for their support on the day, Guildford County for their generous donation, the Mustafa Birer Ice Cream Van, Partypower jumping castles and more,” Vahit said.
