International Women’s Day at Bankstown Senior College

International Women’s Day (IWD) is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. Bankstown Senior College celebrates and supports this amazing initiative by holding events and activities throughout the day while embracing the vital role of women within the schools context. Many of the students are women from varying cultural backgrounds, religions and races but are all supported and provided with equal educational experiences to support their vocational and educational ambitions.
Bankstown Senior College:
• celebrates women’s achievements
• educates and embeds women’s equality
• provides leadership opportunities for women including the School Representative Council
• provides equal educational and vocational opportunities for women
On the 8th March, Bankstown Senior College students played a part in helping forge gender equality. The day consisted of fun games, activities, celebrations, and the incorporation of cultural perspectives through food, dance and music to promote and support the global campaign theme of Embrace Equity.

All contexts, including schools can challenge gender stereotypes, call out discrimination, draw attention to bias, and seek out inclusion.
To truly embrace equity, means to deeply believe, value, and seek out difference as a necessary and positive element of life. Bankstown Senior College promotes gender equity through all aspects of the school’s existence, from employment opportunities, decision making and whole school processes.
From the College’s executive team to the teaching and administrative staff, support teachers and students, women at Bankstown Senior College are all treated with dignity, respect and equality. All women across the college play an integral role in the many outstanding achievements and successes experienced at the school.
