Successful squad calling on women

ONE of the area’s oldest clubs with a rich history of more than 60 years, Birrong Sports FC is on the hunt for females keen to join the Premier League (PL) Women’s team this season.

President Tyrone Wait says the club has enjoyed great success with the women’s side over the past few years but several players are retiring and another is expecting and unable to play this season.
“They won their first premiership in 2018 and were grand final runners up last year which was a fantastic effort,” he said.
“Birrong is one of the most family-friendly clubs you’ll ever find.
“I tell everyone who joins that we’ve only got three rules – have fun, learn something and make friends.
“We’re looking forward to fielding a PL women’s side this year so don’t hesitate to get in touch; women train every Wednesday night at our grounds at Jim Ring Reserve in Birrong.”
Playing in the Bankstown District Amateur Football Association (BDAFA), the club fields teams comprising players aged Under 6s through to Over 35s.
“We welcome and accomodate players of all abilities,” Tyrone said.
