Enrichment program helping school outperform State in NAPLAN results

SUCCESS continues to rise under the leadership of Principal Ross Dummett who says Canterbury Boys High is the new school of choice.

“Our goal is very clear, we want to be the number one boys high school in the local area, and we won’t stop working until we achieve that goal,” he says.
The school prides itself on establishing authentic relationships across the community and embedding core values of truth and honour to develop young men of integrity.
Committed to excellence in boys’ education, Canterbury Boys High offers high quality, educational opportunities, with a strong focus on enrichment and differentiation to maximise student potential. NAPLAN data for 2022, shows the school outperformed the State in reading, writing, spelling and numeracy.
“This is due to the unrelenting focus the school has on differentiating tasks and the high expectations that are established in every classroom,” Mr Dummett said.
“The focus is to recognise each boy as an individual and offer the opportunities to discover and explore his passions to reach his full potential.”
The school’s enrichment program, designed to cater to the needs of boys with high potential, provides stimulating challenges and opportunities for boys to maximise their interests and learning.
The program runs across all stages beginning with an enrichment class in Stage 4, continuing into Stage 5 as an elective course that focuses on critical and creative thinking and culminating in a mentoring program in Stage 6.
The last stage focuses on students developing skills, behaviours and attitudes that will lead to HSC success as evidenced by over 60 per cent of students this year going on to tertiary study.
