Free course to get work ready

IDEAL for mums planning on re-entering or joining the workforce, a free TAFE NSW Workplace Skills course will get underway next week at Auburn Library and will be held every Tuesday, 10am-2.30pm, until June 20.

Head teacher for IT at Granville TAFE, Payal Gupta, says participants will learn key skills they will use throughout their careers and develop knowledge and confidence to apply for a job.
“The hours are fantastic for parents because they’re able to drop off their child at school and finish in time to collect them in the afternoon,” she said.
“We cover all the office skills from scratch such as scanning, photocopying, conducting research via the internet, sending emails and other administration tasks and once complete, participants can then undertake at Certificate II in Applied Digital Media which is also free for those who meet the criteria.”
A previous participant has just been employed by IBM and will study for his Certificate III at the same time.
“The TAFE NSW Workplace Skills course is a fantastic pathway to the world of work and you can continue to study to develop your abilities and confidence along the way,” Ms Gupta said.
Places are limited for the course which gets underway on Tuesday, February 28.
