And there is still time to nominate an outstanding individual or organisation in one of the categories including: Youth Project/Young Female Ambassador (12-25 years); Access and Disability Award; Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Achievement; Community Event Award; Multicultural Leadership; and Local Businesswoman of the Year.
Consistent with this year’s theme “#EmbraceEquity”, the awards are an opportunity for the community to reflect on the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women and nominate them for an award.
Cumberland City Mayor Lisa Lake said that the awards were an opportunity to show appreciation for the contributions women made to the community.
“Cumberland City Council is proud to be presenting an award ceremony on International Women’s Day to honour women and organisations who embrace equity and work to break bias in the Cumberland area,” she said.
“Women make up almost half of the Cumberland population and many of their achievements go unnoticed, so I am very excited to be able to celebrate them in any way we can.”
Nominations close on Wednesday, February 22, with awards presented on Wednesday, March 8, at the Holroyd Centre in Merrylands.
