Retiring police volunteers thanked over long efforts

AUBURN police farewelled two of its longest serving volunteers who have chalked up almost 40 years between them.

Susan Scott and Graham Weir have been part of the Volunteers in Policing (VIP) program for 22 and 17 years respectively, supporting officers at the Auburn Command by undertaking various office administration duties, engaging with and liaising with various members of the community – primarily the elderly community, completing data entry, updating various databases and attending various community engagement activities and events.
“But most of all they have been a valuable source of support for the officers of Auburn PAC over time,” Superintendent Danielle Emerton said.
“Congratulations to them both.”
The Volunteers in Policing (VIP) program was introduced in 1995 to allow community members to assist police by performing functions that are not core police duties. VIPs are an integral part of the police team and through their work, police are able to concentrate on core duties and drive down crime.
