Champion for disabled youth

RETIRED Holroyd School Principal, Anne Flint was in shock after being told she had been named a Member (AM) in the General Division of the Order of Australia for significant service to education and to those with disability.

“It was such a pleasant surprise,” she said.
“But the honour belongs to every one one of my staff; I was very lucky to have such a great team.”
Based at the Merrylands school for over 32 years in teaching and leadership positions, Anne has been a tireless worker for children and young people with disability and has previously been honoured with a Social Justice and Equity Award as well as a Director General’s Award for her services.
Among her many initiatives, she was co-founder of Flintwood Disability Services and helped establish Cumberland Council Community Hub.
After retiring in 2020, Anne has been enjoying grandmother duties and plans to travel soon.
“Whatever I’ve achieved has always been the result of a group effort but I am grateful to have made the list and feel extremely honoured,” she said.
