Eagles need to bowl way to win

AUBURN Eagles will be looking to take early wickets – to keep them in the hunt for a spot in the first grade qualifying finals – when their match against Lane Cove resumes on Saturday.

Batting first in ideal conditions, the Eagles started cautiously against some tight bowling from the Lane Cove opening attack.
Eagles opening batter, Amajyot Singh scored an aggressive 33 runs before he was out, and soon after the Eagles score slumped to 5-60.
However, despite wickets tumbling around him, Eagles talented all-rounder Blake Pearson showed tremendous fighting spirit to lead the Eagles’ fight back.
Pearson, who finished with 81, was well supported by Shan Rana (24) and Patrick Morgan (26 runs), helping the Eagles reach a respectable 204.
With time still left in the day’s play, Lane Cove went out to bat out the day and lost an early wicket to be 1-25 at stumps on day one.
