School sets benchmark for student success

AFTER a year of results last year that had been nothing short of spectacular, Revesby Public School was contacted by the Department of Education keen to learn their strategies for high attendance as well as the secrets behind their NAPLAN success.

Revesby Public Principal Narelle Nies says the school “outperformed” any statistically similar school with their students placing in the top two bands in every area of NAPLAN.
She said the Department also noted their success in student growth data, particularly in reading.
“Something that we are really proud of is the way that every single student is monitored to ensure growth,” she said.
“This is the collective effort where strong accountability is shared. We highlight a strong path for every student’s academic growth.
“Sincere thanks to the staff for making the school a magical place of learning and engagement; they are hardworking, dedicated and passionate educators who go the extra mile. Thank you also to our parents for working closely in partnership with us.”
With the Term 4 Presentation Day celebrating the schools three key values – Success, Partnerships and Opportunities – students also received praise for their strong extracurricular efforts in Shining Stars, the School Spectacular, Cantabile Choir, PSSA Sports, Swim Scheme, Debating, Public Speaking, Dance Groups and in making it to the State Championship for Ten Pin Bowling.
“We look forward to achieving even greater heights this year,” Ms Nies said.
