Playing together in the NSW Youth Championship Representative U17s team, Forrester scored 89 and Cordingley scored 37 to win an earlier game against Eastern Suburbs, who may be their grand final opponents, so they have the confidence to get the job done.
When up against Manly, Cordingley scored 114 not out and batted the full 50 overs of the game to earn the team another victory in which Forrester scored 33.
In the game against Penrith, Forrester scored 126 and again the match was won.
Round 5 against Blacktown, saw Forrester score 92 and Cordingley score 142 not out after again batting the full 50 overs – the teens had put on a partnership of 200 runs to take the game.
Both boys have played junior cricket in the district since the age of five, with Cordingley playing for Bankstown Sports Club and achieving 10 years’ service while Forrester played his junior cricket at St Christopher’s Cricket Club.
Both boys have also played for Bankstown District Cricket Association as representative players since the age of 10.
Cordingley’s mum Kirsty says this year has seen them achieve great success under the coaching guidance of Mick Reynolds and Matt Lewis who are to be commended.
“Both boys will go far and are already friends for life,” she said.
“We’re so excited to have made the Grand Final and certainly have our fingers crossed.”
Full of future stars, the team also consists of: Max Condon – captain, Daniel Louka – vice captain, Jack Ashburner, Luca Croft, Taran Shah, Aryan Rodrigues, Matthew Fitzgerald, Muhammad Talha, Atharv Ramakanth, Reagan Sidhu and Callum McCall.
