Beverly Hills Girls High School student Sarah Maikari said she was confident going into her exam but was still in a state of shock after being told she had achieved the highest mark in ‘Business Services’.
“I worked hard, I would wake up and just study all day,” she said.
“I am very, very happy with my results.”
Principal Maria Iemma said they aim for all of their girls to be a some body some day.
“Sarah is evidence that just as our motto says, ‘women can do anything’, and we are incredibly proud,” she said.
La Salle Catholic College Bankstown student Danny Nouseir feels relief that giving up his Saturdays attending the Secondary College of Languages paid off after he was awarded first in ‘Arabic Extension’.
“I couldn’t sleep in or play soccer as the extension subject required a lot more work,” he said.
“My advice to others is that is you do your best by putting in the effort, it will pay off.”

Malek Fahd Islamic School Greenacre student Yosef Hmeidouch was ranked equal first in ‘Mathematics Standard 2’ with Principal Zachariah Matthews praising his achievement.
“Yosef’s diligence and perseverance to achieve his personal best throughout the preliminary and HSC years, including remote learning, is an exemplary accomplishment,” Mr Matthews said.
Also celebrating, Secondary College of Languages’ Bankstown Girls Campus students Verica Minovska came first in ‘Macedonian Continuers’ and Jannah Sandara Aquino came first in ‘Filipino Continuers’.
While Alpha Omega Senior College student and Greenacre resident Zayn Boulad came first in ‘English Standard’ with Deputy Principal Wesam Krayem saying the prospect of doing well in English was daunting for many migrant students.
“When someone actually cracks the glass ceiling, such as Zayn, it will hugely inspire the next generation coming through,” he said.
