How Ava, 7, steals show in Stan favourite ‘Bump’

SHE’S only seven but already Bankstown’s Ava Cannon has landed herself a plum role in season three of family favourite ‘Bump’ which is set to screen on Stan on Boxing Day.

With the first two seasons centred on a teen pregnancy and the parents continuing to get to know each other while still juggling high school, the third season starts five years into the future with their baby ‘Jacinda’ – played by Ava – starting school.
In almost every scene as one of the main characters, Ava is a natural, according to mum Natascha Borg who is also an actor.
Signing with Natascha’s acting agency, Ava auditioned for the part late last year and got to know her ‘on screen’ parents before filming started.
“Their close relationship really comes across on screen,” Natascha said.
“The whole cast and crew have been amazing and Claudia Karvan, who plays the grandmother, is full of praise for Ava’s performance.”
Taking most of term one off school to complete ‘Bump’, Ava also appears in four episodes of a Play School spin off called Play School Art Time which is available on ABC iView.
With their fingers crossed that there will be a season 4 of ‘Bump’ which still features ‘Jacinda’ as a child, Natascha says Ava is very excited to be in the series and would run to the set from the make-up department everyday.
“She just loves the acting and the set changes but at seven, doesn’t realise what a big deal it is; hopefully this is just the start,” Natascha said.
