The win put them in third place, narrowly missing out on the runners up position, which was a huge achievement, according to a spokesperson, after a tough seven weeks of injury.
“These girls will hopefully make the 2023 BCNA Metro league team and Opens team for the Senior HART State titles being played on the long weekend in June along with our 17s,” the spokesperson said.
The Opens team players are: Apollo Schuster-Tagaloa, Janaia Donovan, Jessica Stone, Julie-Anna Pretti, Kirra Leten, Prudence Roebuck, Renee Russell, Samantha Brincat and Taryn Roebeck, with coaches Margaret Stone and Anne Simpson
Meanwhile the BCNA 17s team worked hard all season to achieve Division 2 runners up in the summer series.
“Most of the team consist of 15-year-olds so playing in this U17s team is an amazing effort,” the spokesperson said.
“The dedication these girls and their coaches have to push through what has been a tough two years for sport is to be commended.
“They have definitely shown what they are capable of, working together to create such a strong and committed team.”
The team comprises Alexia Giannakis, Bryell Peita, Chloe Barrett, Emily Weatherall, Imogen Berghan, Kiana Donovan, Mackensie Dalziel, Madeleine Kirgan and Sienna Batten, with coaches Belinda Chesterton and Shannon Anand.
The BCNA Saturday competition played at Deverall Park, begins on March 25.
