PCYC Auburn is inviting residents to drop off grocery items until Monday, December 19, so the staff can create hampers for those doing it tough in the local community.
“We are asking for donations of canned items, like fruit, beans, tuna and lentils, crackers, biscuits, bottled water, instant noodles, mini cereal packets and long-life milk,” organiser Talia said.
“We also need bandaids, bandages, tampons, pads, soap, shampoo, conditioner, moisturiser, face wipes, deodorant, hats, socks, sunscreen, nappies, colouring books and pencils, deck of cards and reusable bowls and cutlery.
“We have created enough hampers now to help about 20 families but hope to at least double that number because there is so much need in the community.”
PCYC Auburn will donate the hampers to Barnardos Auburn, a local women’s refuge, individuals and nominated families.
Donations can be handed into the front desk staff at PCYC Auburn located at Building No 3, Wyatt Park, Lidcombe.
“All donations big or small are welcomed and appreciated,” Talia said.
“Every little bit helps and it’s a wonderful feeling to give back especially at this time of year.”

Time to celebrate and enjoy, but don’t forget those less fortunate
WHILE most of us celebrate and enjoy the upcoming Christmas season with our friends and families, this is also the hardest time of the year for others.
