Youth invited to audition in next star hunt

HOPING to discover the next superstar, Canterbury Bankstown Talent Advancement Program (TAP) organisers are calling for young people to audition at Bryan Brown Theatre at the end of this month.

TAP graduates Theoni Marks

Helping build performance confidence and offering support to young people through great mentors, TAP Directors Wendy Tierney and Helen Pain say the program identifies, nurtures and promotes talented young singers through a series of workshops with experienced coaches as well as performance opportunities.
“We’re on the lookout for young people who are enthusiastic, eager to better themselves and want to commit to development,” Wendy said.
“It’s mind-blowing when you consider what some of our past students are now doing, one is performing in London, another in Los Angeles and we’ve even spawned an Australian Opera director.
“Another TAP graduate Theoni Marks did well on The Voice last year and is now touring; just to think we’ve had some hand in developing them as performers is a wonderful feeling.”
Auditions are open to high school students aged 12 to 18 years, who live or attend a school in the Canterbury Bankstown local government area.
If you would like to audition for the Talent Advancement program, obtain an enrolment form by emailing TAP@cbcity.nsw.gov.au by this Monday, November 21, with auditions being held on Wednesday, November 30.
A community project of the City of Canterbury Bankstown and the NSW Department of Education, TAP was launched in 2002 and has discovered and nurtured more than 350 youths, including Casey Donovan and Paulini, many of whom have gone on to do great things in the performing arts world.
