Eagles bowl to soaring victory

AUBURN first grade captain Yasir Ali has again led from the front, sealing the win for the Eagles after taking 5/49 and the final wicket.

The Eagles started day two of the match in a confident mood, with Georges River at 4/28 and chasing the Eagles 187.
However, it was clear from the first over of the day that the Georges River batters were prepared to dig in for the long haul and fight all the way.
Eagles bowlers toiled hard in perfect conditions and on a batter-friendly wicket, with good line and length bowling kept the pressure on and restricted the run flow from the Georges River batters.
The Eagles made a number of bowling changes to try and get a breakthrough against the determined opposition.
Eventually wickets started to fall, but Georges River were still fighting hard at 8/149 just 48 runs behind.
Having already taken four wickets, Ali wasn’t finished and took the final wicket to end the Georges River innings on 148. He was well supported by left arm pace bowler, Zain Khan who took 3/40.
The Eagles are away against the Epping Bulls next Saturday.
