World best at Badminton Open

WITH thousands of spectators expected, more than 300 players from 20 countries will converge on Quaycentre at Sydney Olympic Park over five days this month to take on the world’s best in the Australian Badminton Open (ABO) 2022.

The highest and most prestigious badminton tournament in Australia, the 2022 event is part of the HSBC BWF World Tour Super 300.
With title sponsor Sathio Group Pty Ltd, this event carries significant world ranking points for all five disciplines of the sport in Mens Singles (MS), Womens Singles (WS), Mens Doubles (MD), Womens Doubles (WD) and Mixed Doubles (XD).
Badminton fans from within and outside of Australia are treated to world class badminton, with the 2017 event winning the prestigious NSW Sporting Event of the Year, awarded by Sport NSW, the peak body representing NSW Sports.
Due to the pandemic, the last ABO was held in 2019 and enjoyed international TV coverage of over 400 hours to 150 million households around the world with over 10,000 fans attending.
“We are expecting tickets to be in huge demand with the overall high quality field of players coming,” Australian Badminton Open tournament director Loke Poh Wong said.
