Women in Football Day celebration this Sunday

CELEBRATING the booming participation of girls and women, Bankstown Football (formerly BDAFA) is staging a Women in Football Day at Kelso Park South this Sunday.

Hosted by Panania Diggers Soccer Club, the day will also acknowledge the role and importance of female referees, coaches, managers, administrators and volunteers.
With games being played on the day at Kelso Park as well as some at Marco Reserve, players from both will receive drinks and freebies after their match and can bring the family along to enjoy a range of activities including professional face painting, a jumping castle, an iMove physio station, Blooms Chemist health checks, a Football NSW inflatable, Too Cheezy Woodfired pizzas, chicken kebabs, wraps, cakes and raffles.
Panania Diggers Soccer Club committee member and a longtime women’s coach, Brett Lombe, says the club’s sign-writer will have his Hilux Utility wrapped in stencils for children to enjoy colouring-in various scenes of girls playing footy for a gold coin donation.
On offer from 8.30am-4pm this Sunday, August 28, all proceeds of the day will be donated to the McGrath Foundation to support women’s health.
“It’s going to be an extra special celebration and all for a good cause,” Brett said.
“There’ll be great food and interesting activities for everyone on offer so families should all come along.”
