Crashed unlicensed carrying stolen gear

A MAN who allegedly reversed his car away from a random breath-testing site is facing numerous charges after colliding with another vehicle in Villawood and eventually coming to a stop.

About 9.15pm on Friday, August 12, police were conducting roadside breath-testing on the Hume Highway, Carramar, when a Holden Cruze approached the testing site, before turning into Quest Street where a second random breath-testing site was set-up
The 29-year-old driver allegedly reversed from the testing site when police stopped and spoke to him. Police gave chase but the pursuit was terminated due to safety concerns.
A short time later the vehicle was involved in a collision at the intersection of The Horsley Drive, Villawood, and
the man allegedly attempted to run from the scene, but was arrested a short distance away following a foot pursuit.
The driver of the other car, a 40-year-old woman and her two passengers, aged eight and 10 years, were treated for minor injuries.
Police allegedly located $2,200 on the man before seizing a number of items including saws, a jackhammer, power tools and a saw kit, with a combined estimated value of over $10,000, from the vehicle.
The man was charged with police pursuit – not stop – drive dangerously, never licensed person drive vehicle on road, not give particulars to owner of damaged property, goods in personal custody suspected being stolen, and goods suspected stolen in/on premises.

pedestrian hit by car
A PEDESTRIAN was seriously injured after he was struck by a vehicle in Wiley Park last Saturday night.
Paramedics treated the 37-year-old at the scene, near the intersection of Punchbowl Road and Bouvardia Street, before he was taken to hospital in a serious but stable condition.
The 18-year-old driver was taken to hospital for mandatory testing.
