Halotherapy or salt room therapy is now considered an alternative treatment for lung problems such as asthma, bronchitis and cough.
Whattz Suppz Bro (WSB) Supplements at 80 Anderson Avenue, Panania, opened the area’s first two salt rooms three weeks ago after owner Aterea Davis was so impressed with his scalp psoriasis clearing up only a few sessions at a centre in Wollongong.
Aterea’s wife Abby can also not get enough of the benefits.
“I had sinus and allergies which are now gone but I still use the rooms as a meditative space for general well-being,” she said.
“It’s such an ancient, holistic therapy that really has so much going for it.
“Think of all the As – salt has natural antihistamine, antiviral, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antimicrobial and anti-fungal properties, which detoxify the body, strengthen the immune system and help relieve symptoms for a range of conditions including acne and eczema.”
Salt rooms are also popular with people who suffer from anxiety and depression.
In a short 40-minute session ($25-$45) in either a ‘beach cave’ or ‘waterfall oasis’ themed room, clients have reported improved mood, mental performance, sleep and lower levels of stress.
Also running an onsite wellness cafe selling acai bowls, fresh juices, protein shakes and coffee, WSB staff can even set you up with a protein or pre-workout tub to take home and make yourself.
They’re open seven days – Monday to Friday, 8am-5pm, Saturday, 8am-3pm, and Sunday, 9am-3pm.
