School encourages others to get on board campaign to help fuel planes

YAGOONA Public School has got on board Little Wings’ Return and Earn Campaign, ensuring proceeds from their bottle collections are pumped into the non-profit organisation to help fuel its planes.

Little Wings provides free, professional and safe flight and ground transport services for seriously ill children in rural and regional NSW.
Earlier this month, it launched its Return & Earn Campaign at the school and by the next morning the students had filled the bin.
Student Hayley Wilds was extremely excited and proud to be one of the students and families, filling up the recycling bin on the first day.
After hearing about the success, Mayor Khal Asfour visited the school to show his support and thank teachers and students for their outstanding recycling efforts and community spirit.
“This simple initiative encourages our local community to recycle, improving our local environment, and create direct positive social impact on families doing it tough,” he said.
“Council will help by sourcing Recycling Bins for any local school that wants to support the Fuel Our Planes Return & Earn campaign.”
Littlewings CEO Clare Pearson said with a few simple actions, the community can have a serious impact on families from regional NSW.
“Every 20 bottles returned equals one-litre of fuel for our aircraft… so we hope people will get involved and help keep us in the air,” she said.
“Over the past 18 months, as more traditional face-to-face fundraising methods have become limited, we’ve really seen how important Return and Earn has become to raise money for community.”
