Canterbury Bankstown Mayor Khal Asfour said there had been no let-up and crews have been run off their feet handling requests.
On average, the council repairs around 600-700 potholes a year. But the recent rain has seen that number more than double, with 1,350 potholes repaired in the last eight months.
A council spokesperson said as a general rule, potholes were repaired in most cases within 48 hours.
“However, we are experiencing some delays due to the ongoing wet weather and staff shortages due to Covid,” he said.
“The council has a proactive crew inspecting road surfaces as well as receiving reports from the public.”
