Premier Dominic Perrottet said the Review would focus on supporting women to enter, re-enter and stay in the workforce, including through identifying opportunities to reduce salary and superannuation discrepancy with men and improve access to and affordability of childcare.
“The time has come to level the playing field, making sure more women have more choice and opportunities when it comes to their careers,” Mr Perrottet said.
With plans to retire as MWA CEO postponed to later this year when her successor becomes available to take over the reins, Maha is excited about what she can offer to the panel based on her experience supporting marginalised women for over four decades.
The Picnic Point resident, 64, says she is looking forwarding to developing strategies that benefit women of all ages and backgrounds and from all walks of life.
“This is a big responsibility because we know it’s the beginning of something great, it’s not just about getting more women into the workforce or about the dollar sign,” she said.
“We will be considering many factors such as affordable childcare, early childhood education, boosting numeracy and literacy for younger women and strategies to support and include the voices of older women.”
