Community worker happily shocked to find out about this latest accolade

BANKSTOWN’S Citizen of the Year in 2013 and Director of Outloud for 28 years before retiring in 2019, Tim Carroll has been awarded a Medal (OAM) of the Order of Australia in the General Division for services to the community of Bankstown.

Happily shocked to find out about this latest accolade, the Hurlstone Park resident says it is the biggest thing that has happened to him since leaving Outloud, formerly Bankstown Youth Development Services.
He is still treasurer of the Bankstown Community Resource Group and has been involved with the group for 25 years.
He has also applied to be a Meals on Wheels deliverer with the council and says he is pretty busy for someone who has retired from paid work.
“I can see myself getting back into the Arts field but at the moment, the industry is still taking a hammering over Covid,” he said.
“Apart from my volunteering roles in the community, I am a keen rock climber, surfer, gardener and cook and spend time supporting my in-laws who are in their 90s.
“I am grateful for the award and can’t wait to see what the future holds.”
Federal MP for Blaxland, Jason Clare, said: “A big congratulations to my friend Tim Carroll who was awarded an OAM. Not many people have changed more lives for the better than Tim. You are a legend my friend. So well deserved.”
