Local students top NSW in HSC course

SEVERAL students from Canterbury Bankstown are among the top achievers in the State, taking out first place in a 2021 Higher School Certificate course.

They included: Raneem Emad, Al-Faisal College (Arabic Continuers); Roaa Ahmed, Beverly Hills Girls High School (Arabic Extension); Elena Stojcevski, East Hills Girls Technology High School (Business Studies); Thi Hong Thu Nguyen, Kingsgrove North High School (Chinese Beginners); Ting Jun Liang, Secondary College of Languages Birrong Boys Campus (Chinese in Context); Christina Solyom, Secondary College of Languages Bankstown Girls Campus (Hungarian Continuers); Styliani Koliris, St Euphemia College (Modern Greek Continuers); and Konstantinos Zisopoulos, St Euphemia College (Modern Greek Extension).
“It was a shock,” said Elena, who put her excellent results during a difficult two years down to “hard work, FaceTiming friends and knowing it would be over soon”.
Premier Dominic Perrottet congratulated students on their outstanding results, achieved despite two challenging years.
“To top the State in an HSC course is an incredible achievement at the best of times; to do so today highlights even more so the grit, dedication and talent of the students being recognised,” he said.
“Congratulations to all the exceptional young people who have achieved First in Course for the 2021 HSC.
“You should be very proud of your efforts.”
