Rotary back to barbecuing

IT was a double treat that awaited the return of Padstow Rotary meetings last week with the 16 members present and nine zooming in first receiving the news they had been awarded an international Rotary Citation for 2020-21.

They also heard words of inspiration from Westpac Rescue Helicopter’s volunteer paramedic and Emergency Medical Transport Co-ordinator Stewart Bailey who was the club’s guest speaker.
After 35 years of service, Stewart has been named the Rotary District of NSW’s Emergency Services Community Award (RESCA) winner and will be competing in the National Rotary Emergency Services Awards in Canberra later this year.
Padstow Rotary Club Service Director Charles Mille said it was fantastic hearing from Stewart as well as receiving the Citation which measures the club’s achievements in three areas – support and strengthen clubs, focus and increase humanitarian service and enhance Rotary’s public image and awareness.
“The Citation which we sought was worth pursuing because it helps to align our club with the goals and objectives of Rotary International,” he said.
“It provides a way for club leadership to measure our club against the standards set by Rotary International.”
Saying it was great to be back, Charles said Padstow Rotary also held their first sausage sizzle last Sunday outside Bunnings Padstow.
“We’ll be back barbecuing again outside Bunnings Padstow on November 28 and are planning other activities before the year’s end too,” he said.
