This year we’re celebrating National Recycling Week’s 25th anniversary with the theme ‘Celebrate National Recycling Week Your Way!’.
Cumberland’s Recycling Week campaign will kick-off with a Household Chemical CleanOut day this Sunday, November 7, 9am-3.30pm, at Auburn Baseball Club Carpark in Euston Road.
You can drop off all of your unwanted chemicals for free, such as solvents and household cleaners, floor care products, pesticides and herbicides, pool chemicals, hobby chemicals, motor fuels, ammonia-based cleaners, fluorescent globes and tubes, acids and alkalis, smoke detectors, paint and paint-related products, gas bottles, fire extinguishers, car and household batteries, motor oils and cooking oils.
“Using the CleanOut day is vital to safely dispose of household chemicals that could cause harm to human health and the environment if not disposed of property,” a council spokesperson said.
You can also book a collection of small amounts of loose bonded asbestos lying dormant on your property by calling 8757 9000 or find out more at a free asbestos info session on November 27 at 11am.
Do you want to know more about how you can recycle at home? If you have a question, then submit it to the council’s National Recycling Week survey.
Just by submitting a question you will be eligible to go into a draw to win a recycling prize pack valued at $100.
