Suspect car seized

POLICE seized the suspected getaway car used in the murder of Toufik and Salim Hamze outside their Guildford home, after 300 extra officers were deployed to tackle the escalating violence.

The father and son were gunned down two weeks ago while sitting in a parked ute outside their home in Osgood Street, just before 9am, in the latest gangland attack.
Police charged 10 people and allegedly seized drugs, weapons and a car suspected of being used in a double shooting murder, during an operation to prevent and disrupt serious and organised crime.
The crackdown comes after the latest gangland attack which saw Toufik and Salim Hamze murdered outside their Guildford home last month and forms part of Strike Force Hawk which was established as a high-visibility operation to investigate murders, public place shootings, kidnappings, and other organised criminal activities, including the supply of prohibited drugs and illicit firearms.
So far during the operation, police have allegedly seized heroin, MDMA, gamma-Butyrolactone (GBL), cocaine, cannabis and ketamine with an estimated potential street value of $127,000, as well as more than $35,000 cash and numerous vehicles – including the Ford Mustang suspected to have been used by those involved in the murder of the father and son last month.
The Mustang was seized from a Guildford unit complex and is undergoing forensic examinations.
As part of the operation, police also charged four men after executing search warrants at Merrylands, Lidcombe and Guildford.
A 19-year-old Lidcombe man was charged with affray, assault occasioning actual bodily harm in company of other(s), assault person intend criminal activity of criminal group, passenger not disclose driver’s / other passenger’s identity, and possess prescribed restricted substance, two men, aged 20 and 28, from Merrylands were charged with affray, assault occasioning actual bodily harm in company of other(s), assault person intend criminal activity of criminal group, and passenger not disclose driver’s/other passenger’s identity, and a Guildford man, 20, was charged with with possess or use prohibited weapon without a permit and use a prohibited weapon contrary to prohibition order.
State Crime Command Director, Detective Chief Superintendent Darren Bennett, says investigators are working through forensics and continuing to canvass for witnesses, CCTV and other leads, while also conducting overt suppression tactics such as the warrants, vehicle stops and FPOs.
