Hairstylists enjoy boom

DESCRIBING the last two weeks as bigger than Christmas, Hair Appeal & Beauty Connection owner George Trippas said his salon was open for 80 hours in the first week and 65 hours last week.

The Revesby hairdresser is among the many in the hair and beauty trade who have no shortage of work with lockdown lifting and residents jumping at the opportunity to indulge in a little self-care after spending months at home.
Apart from colours and cuts, many customers have come in needing ‘repair’ jobs after tending to their own hair and beauty needs for so long.
“That’s no problem and the atmosphere has been absolutely amazing,” he said.
“It’s great to be back and everyone is so thrilled to be walking through the door and taking a seat in the salon; they’ve missed us and we’ve missed them.”
The challenge now, however, is to fit everyone in for those urgent appointments.
“We will accommodate everyone as much as we are able,” he said.
Padstow’s To-Be Hair, Skin and Body owner Jo feels George’s pain,
“The challenge has definitely been trying to fit everyone in,” she said.
“Most people have been really supportive, some even bringing flowers and chocolates as they’re just so happy that we’re back but there have also been a few impatient people which is understandable.”
Also doing a roaring trade, Condell Park F45 Training owner Meg Borkowski says every day has been busy but classes are not overfull.
“Nearly everyone has come back but some are still waiting to get vaccinated,” she said.
“As well as shifting the Covid calories, we know that exercise is great for mental health and everyone is keen to get that back on track too after months of being stuck at home.”
Plus Fitness Punchbowl have even had to hire extra staff to deal with all of the inquiries.
“We’ve been flat out,” a spokesperson said.
