Canterbury Bankstown Mayor Khal Asfour was joined by Councillor Rachelle Harika to turn the first sod to mark the start of work at Band Hall Reserve’s Dog Off-Leash Area.
Mayor Asfour said he’s excited to see more outdoor facilities for the local community, especially after coming out of lockdown, and “dog owners will absolutely love the new facilities”.
“These new separated areas and the inclusion of waste bag dispensers are being introduced because we’ve listened to the community.”
The upgrades to Band Hall Reserve and Vale of Ah Reserve are expected to be completed this December, and will include fencing to separate large dogs and small dogs, new access paths, turfing and waste bag dispensers and bins.
Waste bag dispensers and bins will also be installed at Craig Street Reserve in Punchbowl, Richard Podmore Reserve in Narwee, Close Street Reserve in Canterbury, Ruse Park in Bankstown, Peace Park in Ashbury, Hughes Park in Earlwood and Peter Moore Field in Campsie.
