Online book club booming with all enjoying adventures around world

SHARING their journeys to other worlds with like-minded characters, Cumberland Council’s free online book club has been gathering steam in the past few months with more invited to jump on board in November and December.

Rather than discussing a single book, the book club has been looking at different book genres and has already covered fantasy, romance and adventure with biographies on the menu next followed by books made into movies in December.
The council’s Program and Information Services Team Leader Sofia Silvestri says they can’t wait to delve into the world of movie adaptations as there are so many amazing options.
“From to Kill a Mockingbird (1962) and Little Women (2019), to Forrest Gump (1994) and Harry Potter (2002-11), there are just so many great books that have become highly popular, successful movies,” she said.
“The online book club is a fantastic opportunity to expand your world, tap into various genres and find inspiration from other titles that you may not have considered before; the conversations have been really impressive and thought-provoking.
“We’ve also been running an online book club for our staff which is also very popular.”
Ideal for those working from home or retired, the club is on offer on Wednesday, November 3, and Wednesday, December 1, 11am-12pm.
