Father and son shot and killed in gangland murder
Salim Hamze, 18, and his father Toufik Hamze, 64, were shot while sitting in a parked ute outside a property in Osgood Street, just before 9am, in yet another gangland style killing.
Salim died at the scene, while Toufik died on the way to hospital.
It is believed to have been the latest attack in the bloody feud between two warring families.
Police believe that there were two people involved – the shooter and the driver – and after the car was set alight they escaped in a grey Mustang.
A police spokesperson says it is another appalling crime in a long list of gangland style shootings that have taken place in south west Sydney, warning those involved that police will not tolerate the serious and extreme violence.
“They can expect high level in-your-face activities to ensure they cannot carry on with the violence,” he said.
While police are worried about reprisals they have also assured residents that the community is safe.
Detectives from the Homicide Squad are investigating the shooting, and officers from the Raptor Squad have commenced proactive intelligence-based targeting of known members and associates of involved criminal networks.
Anyone with information that may assist investigators is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
