The clinic employs Bankstown Sports staff across various roles, including administration, concierge, security, storeman duties and cleaning, which has generated more than 10,000 hours of paid work.
Bankstown Sports CEO, Mark Condi said despite the challenges each lockdown has posed it’s been important for the club to find ways to pivot its offering.
“The Bankstown Sports Group has always been a lifeline for the community and it was a devastating blow when our venues were forced to close their doors in early 2020, and again in June this year,” he said.
“We are fortunate to have an incredible team of managers and staff who think proactively and work tirelessly to find ways to keep moving forward.
“Our wonderful corporate partners didn’t hesitate when we asked them to come onboard and support our vision for the vaccination clinic and to assist with accommodating the ADF crew.
“And most importantly, we have been overwhelmed by the response from the local community to help get local businesses back on their feet.”
The adjoining Travelodge Hotel Bankstown also opened its doors to dozens of Australian Defence Force personnel who were supporting the police with Covid-19 safety checks in the area. During that time, Bankstown Sports’ team of chefs and numerous support staff prepared meals for those personnel, serving up 12,600 plus meals across breakfast, lunch and dinner.
The Acres Club has also been a part of the group’s vaccination drive and has operated eight pop-up clinics offering both AstraZeneca and Pfizer, administering 1,000 jabs.
