Canterbury Bankstown Mayor Khal Asfour has welcomed the move to get the community back outdoors and bring some sanity back in their lives.
Mayor Asfour said he was “absolutely thrilled we are starting to see restrictions slowly easing”.
“What this means for families in my community, is now we can go to a park and have a picnic or barbecue,” he said.
“Our pools also opened this week (subject to Covid-safe regulations), and we’ve seen garden centres and hardware stores open their doors.”
He says while it is great to see some things open and the new roadmap is providing hope, “the Government needs to go further and ensure the restrictions are the same no matter what post code you live in”.
Pools welcoming back social swimmers win
A WEEK after the barbecues were fired up and picnics returned, pools have also welcomed back swimmers as the city slowly opens up after the easing of some health restrictions.
