About 7.30pm, police were called to Blaxcell Street where they were told that shots had been fired from a parked car into a passing ute.
A short time later, police patrolling the area observed a rental vehicle being driven at speed from South Granville.
With assistance from PolAir, the vehicle was located at a home at Bulga Lane, Pemulway.
The driver, 21, was arrested after a short foot pursuit, during which he allegedly threw a bag behind a pole, which was found to contain $30,000 cash, four mobile phones and a knife.
A further mobile phone was found in a search of the man’s clothing.
Following the arrest, a perimeter was established at a home at Bulga Lane, where a further two men, aged 28 and 26, were arrested but later released without charge.
The driver was charged with not comply with direction – Covid-19, possess or use a prohibited weapon without permit, deal with property proceeds of crime and enter inclosed land not prescribed premises without lawful excuse.
Police are working to determine if the rental vehicle is linked to the shooting.
As investigations continue, police executed a crime scene warrant at a home at Blaxcell Street, South Granville, where they allegedly located a grey ute, which was seized for further forensic examination.
Police are urging anyone with information about the incident, or who may have dashcam footage from the area, to come forward.
Car speeding after shooting
It was lucky no one was injured when a gunman opened fire on a ute as it was being driven down a Granville street early Thursday evening.
